Good to know

We are located in the West End, just over a mile southwest of the Old Port in the historic neighborhood known for its elaborate Victorian-era architecture. Our neighborhood offers you the tranquility of the Western Promenade, an 18-acre park offering scenic views and walking paths, in tandem with a host of popular restaurants and cafes, all within easy walking distance. The neighboring Arts District and Old Port offer plenty to explore on foot, including museums, art galleries, theaters, restaurants, shops, and bars. Your private room is furnished with a queen sized bed, white noise machine, desk, and a couch. A Smart TV is provided should guests have their own streaming services. *no cable or streaming service is provided by the host* This room does not have an off-street parking spot. Because we neighbor Maine Medical Center, parking within a half-mile radius is hourly parking only from 9 am-5 pm Monday through Friday. If you arrive on a weekday at 4 pm or later, you can just park on a neighboring street and leave the car for the night until 10 am the next morning. If you arrive on a weekday at 3 pm or are staying for multiple days, we can provide you with street parking directions a half-mile walk away.

Other Details to Note

During the winters, the City of Portland may declare a parking ban during a large snow storm (or even a day or two after). During these parking bans, parking is limited to specific streets and parking lots.

The owner is willing to accommodate the parking for me although the place I stay doesn't have a parking spot. She lets me to use the off-street parking twice for the snow storm and working remotely. I recommend this place for staying.

We stayed for a night in Room 5 and we had a fantastic time! The instructions we received ahead of time were detailed and thorough (with even photos with arrows to show the path to take to the entrance). There was a lighted sign for the Inn out front so we could find it when we arrived that evening. The path to the back was lit up too! Once inside, the place was extremely clean, and had little notes placed around with information and tips that made it feel friendly and personal. There was even a binder with local places to visit and some information about the area which was wicked helpful! The bed was spacious enough for two adults no problem. The neighborhood is friendly and walkable, and I was totally comfortable parking my car on the side of the road overnight. They have a camera outside the door onto the back patio area so I felt totally secure. I would definitely stay here again if I came back to visit the area!

Our room with the private entrance at the Skolfield Inn was perfect for our December weekend in Portland—it was clean, quiet, warm, and cozy. The room didn't come with an off-street parking spot, but Katrina offered suggestions and we had no issues finding a free parking spot a few blocks away. The West End neighborhood felt very safe to leave our car and walk around in, with huge, old, beautiful homes. The Inn is about a 20-30 minute walk to downtown and Old Port, which we preferred because it offered a peaceful reprieve from the busiest parts of the city. (Also, it's close walking distance to Tandem Bakery!) The property was lovely and well-maintained, even with the snow, and our room was exactly as pictured. Katrina's upfront communication was helpful and appreciated, and she was quick to respond when I asked a question. This is an amazing stay, especially considering the prices in Portland—I'd definitely recommend!
